Common Questions
What about Microsoft Office?
As a College of Business student or faculty member, you also are entitled to the full suite of Microsoft Office applications through Office 365.
Who can use MSDNAA/Imagine?
Access to the MSDNAA/Imagine program is available to all students currently enrolled in a College of Business course, and all teaching College of Business faculty, for your term of registration. This means, for example, that students enrolled for summer college classes will have access during the summer term.
Will the software work on a Mac?
At this time, all software available from MSDNAA/Imagine only runs on PC computers running Windows. However, most of the software is compatible with Intel-based Macs running Windows in either Boot Camp or a virtualized environment such as Parallels Desktop, VMWare Fusion or VirtualBox.
How do I access MSDNAA/Imagine?
New College of Business students will receive an email message to their ONID account after the second week of each term with MSDNAA/Imagine account information, including username and password, and instructions for accessing the site and downloading software.
The MSDNAA/Imagine Software Center is the site with login access to download software. Please note that this site works best with Microsoft Internet Explorer as your web browser. Your username for this site is your complete ONID email address (i.e. user123@oregonstate.edu). Your password was e-mailed to you at the beginning of the term. (If you've forgotten or don't know your password, simply click "forgot password," enter your ONID email address, and a new password will be sent to your account.)
I get a .ISO file. What is it?
ISO image (.iso) is a file format that is used for CD/DVD burning software. The image contains all the files that are ready to be burnt onto a CD or DVD. Simply, think of a ZIP file. All the files are compressed into one .zip file. They just need to be extracted. An ISO image works the same way. Most CD/DVD authoring utilities can deal with ISO images by copying them onto CD/DVD media.
There are also programs that can virtually "mount" the ISO image, so the image can run on a computer without having to burn it onto a CD/DVD. Programs such as CloneDrive or Daemon Tools create virtual drives to mount ISO images.
How do I burn a .ISO file?
To burn an .ISO file using a laptop or desktop with a CD/DVD-writing drive, follow these instructions:
-
Place a blank unformatted CD or DVD into your CD/DVD drive.
-
Right click on the ISO or IMG file you want to use to burn a disc.
-
Click Burn disc image.
-
Next to Disc burner, click on the drop down arrow and select the CD/DVD drive with the blank disc you want to burn to.
-
Check the Verify disc after burning option if you want Windows to verify the disc image after burning the disc. Leave this option unchecked if you want to skip the verification. Note that you should skip verification if you are in a hurry, as this process requires additional time.
-
When it finishes burning the disc image to disc, click the Close button.
-
You can now use the burned CD/DVD to install the software.
